I am a believer of careers and professional lives not being on a linear trajectory in order to be fulfilling.

2015– Started working in more output based roles. The first job I got in tech was as an article writer.

2016 – 2017 Started to do projects focused more on visual art and design. Got hired as a web builder w/ my design, HTML and CSS experience. Started learning how to print and sell my own artworks

2018  Started working as a professional illustrator in the publication sector for a Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company, fulltime.  Started making WordPress websites on the side while focusing on the artistic process aspect of things.

2019 Still working as an illustrator fulltime. Also started printing and selling my work regularly in local pop-ups and helping organize these events.

2020 – 2023 The Covid19 pandemic urged on the work-from-home, freelance setup. I have started my transition from fulltime corporate to freelancing at around this time.

2023 – present I am freelancing with the different skills I’ve gained over the years, in different roles and projects. There is more focus on Website design and WordPress projects.

In a corporate environment, being a generalist gives me a good overview of what my collaborators tasks are. It makes me a more proactive team player, as corporate speak would have it. It also makes communication to other departments a lot smoother.

The digital landscape is always changing in ways no one can predict at an unprecedented pace. The best way I’ve adapted is by learning the skills I’ve always been interested in for projects and clients that need a unique blend of skillsets for their project to come to life. The more skills and technologies I learn the more I am able to transfer them from one venture to another.
